Coalition Formed in 1994

NAEPC was formed by Tribal Leaders and Elders from La Jolla, Pauma, Pechanga, and San Pasqual in 1994. NAEPC as increased its number of member tribes and receives requests for new membership on a regular basis.

 

Formally Established in 1996

NAEPC was formally established in 1996 to assist member Tribes in establishing their own environmental
offices, train staff and assist in grant writing.

 

IRS 501 (c)(3) status Achieved in 2005

NAEPC received Non-Profit designation as a 501(C)(3) in 2005.

 

NAEPC was created by Tribes for Tribes

31 Tribes provide direction and guidance for the work NAEPC does. Tribes provide one representative to serve on the Board of Directors. Each tribe is given one vote. All voting is done by unanimous consensus. Tribes meet quarterly and elect an Executive Board. The Executive Board meets bi-monthly.

 

NAEPC Tribes Empowering Tribes

NAEPC is directed to provide training opportunities tailored to meet Tribal needs.  NAEPC is known for providing essential training to ensure the continuation of safe drinking water, protection of cultural resources and ability to respond to emergencies.   NAEPC assist Tribes in commenting on policies that impact their ability to protect their lands. NAEPC’s work is estimated to save vital Tribal resources and funds.
