Draft Fish, Wildlife & Plant Climate Adaptation Strategy

Post by NaepcA1 »

I want to provide a heads-up on the Agency/Tribal Review of the National Fish, Wildlife, & Plant Climate Adaptation Strategy draft report. As you know, this initiative has been ongoing for awhile and some of you have served on some of the Technical Teams. The draft report is now ready for review by the Agencies and Tribes.
The Steering Committee of the NFWPCAS has requested BIA assistance in coordinating distribution of the draft report to Tribal Leaders for their review and comment (see attached draft letter). The comment period ends on November 31st.
The letter will be sent to all Regional Directors tomorrow, November 1st. We are asking for your assistance in sending the Dear Tribal Leader Letter out to your respective Tribes. The letter contains a link where the draft report can be reviewed and copied. The draft letter is attached.
Once the review is completed, Tribal Consultations will be held in conjunction with the Public Meetings. Four, two day meetings will be held and will occur sometime between January 1 and February 28, 2012. The second day will be reserved for Tribal Consultations with Tribal Leaders. At this time, no locations have been selected.
As Agency review of the draft report also begins on November 1st, I am requesting the assistance of each BIA Regional POC to coordinate review of the
draft report amongst your respective BIA agencies and programs. To help meet the November 31st comment deadline, please compile all BIA comments into one Regional Report and email them to me by COB, on November 25. I will compile all Regional Reports into one document and submit to the appropriate NFWPCAS contact.
We appreciate your assistance with this matter. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
John Antonio
