Good afternoon Border Tribes,
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is initiating consultation and coordination with all federally recognized U.S. Border Indian Tribes on the Drafted US-Mexico Environmental Program: Border 2020 Framework. Attached is a letter written to the 26 Tribal Leaders from EPA Assistant Administrator, Michelle DePass.
EPA is requesting comments from the US Border Tribes about this Drafted Border 2020 Framework. The comment period is expected to extend from September 5, 2011 through December 9, 2011. Included with the Letter from EPA Assistant Administrator DePass is a short table, titled “Elements for Comparison” that compares the Border 2012 to the proposed Border 2020 program.
EPA hopes to receive written comments from Border tribes and will be facilitating a face-to-face meeting on November 15, 2011 hosted by the Campo Kumeyaay Nation located in San Diego County California. Please plan on attending.
Please “Save the Date” on your calendars.
