Disaster Preparedness Training August 29 and September 1

Please see attached information regarding a one-day workshop regarding, “A Strategy for Developing Disaster Resistant Communities.” Registration is free but is limited. This workshop will be offered on August 29th in Reno, Nevada and again on September 1st in Valley Center, CA. For more information please the attached flyers and information listed below.



The one-day, interactive workshop is comprised of five topics:
1. “Visioning to Action” – practices that allow all community members to characterize desired future conditions for quality of life and environment;
2. Models and Forecasts – integrated community characterizations form the basis of management goals, performance measures, and more;
3. Infrastructure Ecology – use of ecological methods to assess interconnected infrastructure networks, and coordinate regulatory practices to support desired future conditions, reduce community vulnerability to disasters, reduce life cycle costs, and improve management of land use;
4. Collaborative Enterprise – create partnerships that improve the project quality and community outcomes, and that cut project delivery risks; and
5. Review Initiatives – discuss sources of inspiration and lessons learned.

The workshop is a joint product of the California/Nevada TTAP, FHWA, and the Western Regional Partnership.
