Identifying Process Energy Efficiency Opportunities at Facilities – 25 min
Speaker: Mick Jost, Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP)
Mr. Jost is a Program Coordinator at the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program at the University of Minnesota. He has been providing pollution prevention and energy efficiency solutions to Minnesota businesses for over 20 years. Mr. Jost focuses on providing tailored solutions, including process heat efficiency and energy management, for primary metals and vehicle maintenance facilities. He works one-on-one with the facilities to better understand each facility and communicate how the smallest energy improvement can result in big financial savings. Previously, Mr. Jost spent 12 years with an environmental remediation and engineering contractor where he provided environmental consulting, spill response, and site remediation project management.
Case Studies of Energy Efficiency Projects at Various Businesses – 25 min
Speaker: Anahita Williamson, New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYS P2I)
Dr. Williamson has a strong background and extensive experience in the field of environmental engineering, including manufacturing process modification for improved material recovery and reuse, design for the environment, and life-cycle assessment. Prior to joining NYS P2I, she served as a senior engineer at Xerox Corporation where she assisted in implementing companywide sustainability and pollution prevention processes. Dr. Williamson is a Lean Six Sigma certified Greenbelt. She holds a BS in chemical engineering and MS and Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering, all from Clarkson University.
A Review of EPA's Economy, Energy, & Environment (E3) Program – 25 min
Speaker: Kristin Pierre, U.S. EPA HQ
Ms. Pierre is the founder and manager of the U.S. EPA's Green Supplier Network. Ms. Pierre's work at EPA has centered on the partnership of business and the environment. She was co-manager of US EPA's Environmental Accounting Project and supported the development of the United Nations Environmental Management Accounting workgroup. She has worked at the Michigan Environmental Council and Public Sector Strategies. Previously, she worked at McMurdo Station, Antarctica on recycling and waste management and at the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project in Nepal.
