Decision-Making in Indian Country and Alaska Native Villages

Dear Environmental Directors,

Attached above is the final consultation package mailed today, in hard copy, to tribal leaders within EPA Region 9. We are sending the electronic versions to you as well so that you may review and discuss with your tribal leaders or Councils, to determine if your tribe would like to learn more about OEI’s draft Tribal Strategy and provide feedback to EPA as part of the consultation process. I have also copied Nate Lau and Maria Castain of Region 9 on this e-mail.

The package contains the consultation letter (Attachment A), the process and timeline for consultation (Attachment B), and OEI’s Draft Tribal Strategy (Attachment C). We encourage all interested tribes to review this Draft Strategy and provide input to us. In addition to the opportunity to send us written or electronic comments, we will hold two consultation calls with tribes in July 2011 to discuss this document.
Details about the consultation calls are included in Attachment B.
