Soil Fumagants for States and Tribes

Dear Regional Colleagues:

Attached is a letter from the Director of the Pesticide Re-evaluation Division which we ask you to pass on as soon as possible to all your State and Tribal lead agencies (SLAs). The purpose of the letter is to help us compile a list of those SLAs who affirmatively wish to be notified prior to soil fumigant applications.

We believe this information would be helpful to State and Tribal regulators, but as you probably know, during the many discussions between EPA and SLAs about fumigant implementation issues, notification to SLAs is one that revealed divided opinions. In order to accommodate these different preferences, we need the information the attached letter is requesting. We are requesting responses back to us by May 27, 2011.
