Job Announcement
Position: Development Specialist

Status: Full-time (Exempt)

Location: Inter Tribal Sports headquarters in Temecula, CA

About Us:
Inter Tribal Sports is a 501(c)(3) non-profit consortium of 20 tribes and tribal organizations based in Temecula, California. Our service area currently consists of the Native American population in San Diego and Riverside counties. In 2012, we served more than 1,200 youth through programs that promote physical activity, cultural awareness, sportsmanship, self-esteem, education, and delinquency prevention. Coed basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and flag football leagues are the foundation of the year-round program, with additional enrichment and prevention activities provided through camps, group outings, cultural gatherings, leadership programs, and special events. Our mission is "Unifying tribal youth and communities through structured athletic programs, while providing necessary resources and developing a strong foundation in native culture, leadership, and wellness."

Duties:
The Development Specialist position will work in all areas of resource development and oversee the procurement of resources to help ensure organizational sustainability. Duties will include:
• Identifying, researching, and writing government and foundation grants
• Managing grants, including preparing progress reports and maintaining regular communication with grantors
• Identify and securing corporate giving and sponsorship
• Administering fundraising activities and events and overseeing donation drives
• Working with the Executive Director to formulate plans and strategies for organizational development and growth
• This position is also responsible for overseeing our involvement with the AmeriCorps VISTA program as well as direct supervision of resource development VISTA placement.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate for this unique multi-faceted position will have at least five years of experience in development and will be a team-oriented and creative individual who is also a self-starter. Exceptional writing skills and demonstration of a record of success in writing winning grant proposals, management of complex grant projects, fundraising, corporate relations, and knowledge of organizational development strategies for non-profits is required. A complete record demonstrating past success in grant writing, including names of funders and dollar amounts awarded, should be included in the application package. Minimum education required for consideration for this position is a Bachelor's degree.

Compensation:
DOE, provide salary history and requirements in application

Benefits:
13 paid holidays, 15 days of personal time off for first three years of service, and eligibility for life and health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) and 403(b) retirement plan after completion of 90-day introductory period.
