Healthy Tribal Schools workshop - June 11th in Denver

EPA Region 9 has secured funds to reimburse tribes for travel to attend a one day Clean, Green and Healthy Tribal Schools workshop hosted by the U.S. EPA on June 11th at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. EPA will host the workshop in conjunction with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Summer Institute. Fliers for the Clean, Green, and Healthy Tribal Schools workshop and the BIE Summer Institute are attached to this email.

The Clean, Green and Healthy Tribal Schools workshop is designed for BIE Line Officers, tribal school administrators, facility managers, educators, health and safety coordinators, school health professionals, tribal environmental protection personnel, parents of school children, communities and EPA personnel. The goal of the workshop is to provide information and tools for tribal personnel to ensure that tribal schools are clean, green and healthy for themselves, school children and their community.

Registration for the Workshop:
Please register to attend the workshop at: http://www.epa.gov/region8/tribalschools. The registration website will be up and running during the week of May 7th.

There is no cost to attend the workshop.

Travel Reimbursements:

The Tribal Travel Funding Authorization Request form is attached to this email and must be received by EPA Region 9 on or before May 18, 2012. You must receive a Travel Reimbursement Approval from EPA prior to travelling.

Reimbursable airfare must be coach or economy class. Reimbursements for lodging expenses will be authorized for a maximum of two nights. Per Diem and lodging expenses are reimbursed at the federal government rate.

Please note:

EPA Region 8 is working to secure a block of hotel rooms adjacent to the conference center for workshop attendees. We do not yet have this information yet, but will distribute the information when we notify you of the outcome of your Tribal Travel Funding Authorization Request.

The BIE Summer Institute will be held June 12-14th at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver following EPA's Clean, Green and Healthy Tribal Schools workshop. Please note that the BIE Summer Institute is a separate conference and EPA Region 9 will not provide reimbursements to attend the BIE Summer Institute. Please contact the BIE for details and the Summer Institute agenda.
