Amateur Ham Radio Training

NAEPC will be providing a three-day Amateur Ham Radio Training for those who would like to receive a license to legally operate ham radio equipment. This training will cost $50.00 per participant, which includes materials, exam fees for the three days of training. We are offering this training at two locations on two separate occasions. This will give the opportunity for tribes to attend the sites that are the closest to them. The first training is scheduled for:

April 10th-12th, 2012 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm and will be hosted by the Campo Kumeyaay Nation.

The second training is scheduled for:

May 22nd-24th, 2012 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm and will be hosted by the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians.

This training is an accelerated class designed to provide you with the knowledge to pass the Technician Class amateur radio license exam at the conclusion of the course. Upon completion of the exam, the Federal Communications Commission will grant an amateur radio license to you within a few days. Once you obtain your license, you are able to legally operate ham radio equipment within the limits of your license. Ham radios provide a platform for the exchange of information or data in emergency situations or in disasters. It is a sophisticated piece of technology that requires the user to learn and improve on his/her technical knowledge and skill.

If you are interested in participating in this training, please submit attached registration form via email to cfoster@naepc.com or fax to 951-296-5109. Forms need to be submitted by the indicated deadline dates on the form. Checks also need to be mailed to NAEPC a week prior to the each training. Please distribute amongst Tribal Departments, including Tribal Fire Departments and Tribal Security, Employees, or Tribal Community. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
