~IMPROVING ADVOCACY SKILLS~

On April 11-13, NIJC will conduct an interactive training session on Tribal Court Advocacy at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada.This training session is designed primarily to meet the needs of tribal court advocates/defenders, judges and administrative hearing officers. Trainees will receive intensive instruction and engage in practice exercises in advocacy in a hypothetical case in tribal court.

Additionally, the session will examine ethical considerations for tribal court personnel. The training methodology of NIJC utilizes discussion, debate and sample case exercises. Participants will receive a comprehensive training manual and certificate of achievement upon completion of the course.

On April 11-13, NIJC will conduct a training session on Protecting Sacred Sites & Monitoring Cultural Resources. This session examines the challenges and barriers to protecting sacred sites on lands important to traditional religious beliefs and practices. The training will also provide an introduction to cultural resources monitoring at road construction sites, energy projects and other activities where sacred sites and cultural resources may be compromised. Participants will receive a comprehensive reference manual and certificate of achievement upon completion of the training session.
