Dear Region 9 Tribal Environmental Directors: Please see this technical assistance opportunity below. The deadline is November 22.
Livability Solutions Offers Free Technical Assistance for Sustainable Communities
Livability Solutions, a nonprofit coalition headquartered in New York City, is now accepting applications from communities that have a strong interest in and commitment to livability, smart growth, and sustainability principles, but face a significant challenge or barrier to moving forward. The coalition recently received a grant from U.S. EPA's Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program to provide free technical assistance to communities seeking to implement sustainable and smart growth development and programs.
Livability Solutions’ partner organizations will provide six to twelve selected communities with free targeted technical assistance in the form of tools and improved capacity to achieve their livability, smart growth, and sustainability goals. Technical assistance services to be provided include auditing and improving neighborhood streets and public spaces, assessing the economic merits of green infrastructure practices, improving the safety and desirability of walking and bicycling to school, and more than a dozen other tools. Livability Solutions will also link successful applicants to a network of other communities working toward similar goals and facing similar challenges.
The deadline for applications is November 22, 2011 at 5:00pm PST. For more information and to apply for free technical assistance, visit: http://livabilitysolutions.org/?p=1.
