Dear Tribal Museum and Cultural Program Professionals:

On Thursday, November 17, 2011, the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center (CIMCC), California State University San Marcos and California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center will be hosting New Journeys in Collaboration, a California Tribal Museum Partnership Summit at the Clark Field House at the California State University San Marcos Student Union.

New Journeys brings together tribal leaders and museum representatives and other people from throughout California who have an interest in tribal museums and cultural programs. This educational and capacity-building event features workshops and presentations to promote successful tribal museum and cultural program development and operations. This year the theme is “Improving Consultation and Coordination for Tribal Museum and Cultural Programs."

Participants are invited to attend the grand opening of the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center immediately following the closing session. Additionally, the Native American Professional Development Conference will take place at California State University San Marcos on November 18, 2011.
