Updates:
1. The next meeting of the American Indian/Alaska Native Climate Change Working Group will be held November 7 - 8, 2010 at the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena, Wisconsin. More information is attached to this email.

2. From Patricia Tillman, National Wildlife Federation:
Attached are the reports on Climate Change Effects and Adaptation Approaches in Marine and Coastal Ecosystems and Freshwater Aquatic and Riparian Ecosystems of the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative Region. The reports were produced by National Wildlife Federation, in partnership with the University of Washington Climate Impacts Group and with funding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This report represents the completion of Phase I of a two-phase project and is the first-ever compilation of information on climate change effects and marine/coastal ecosystem responses particular to the North Pacific LCC region. Because the report strives to reflect the state of knowledge as represented in the literature, in most cases language is drawn directly from cited sources. With the exception of the Executive Summary, numbered Boxes, and Case Studies throughout the report, we request that all information drawn from this report reference the original citation, not our report. Please refer to the Preface for further information on the method used to produce the report.

As Patricia mentioned on our last conference call, in the coming months, NWF will convene expert focus groups to access unpublished information on climate change effects in marine/coastal systems and adaptation approaches in the region, then incorporate the information into the report. Thus, the Phase I report attached here compiles the published and grey literature, while the Phase II report will include unpublished information gathered from focus groups. If you would like to participate in these focus groups or suggest participants, please contact Patricia as soon as possible at TillmannP@nwf.org. Invitations will be sent out in the next few weeks.
