Job Opening – Energy Program Specialist
Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office
Reports to: SYCEO Director
Type: Fulltime, Overtime Eligible (non-exempt)
Starting Hourly Rate: $20.00 – $28.00 ($41,600 - $58,240 annually) plus benefits
Wage depends on qualifications and experience

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office (SYCEO) recently secured an EPA Climate Showcase Communities Grant (http://www.epa.gov/statelocalclimate/local/showcase) and we are seeking a fulltime Energy Program Specialist to manage the daily activities of this project (see “CSC Summary” attachment for project details). The responsibilities of this position will include:
Project planning and implementation,
Community education and outreach,
Financial and grants administration,
Data and information management, and
Presentation of this model to other communities
The Energy Program Specialist will also provide support for other SYCEO initiatives as needed. We are seeking someone who is committed working for at least 3 years on this exciting project. After the project is complete there may be opportunities for continued employment and advancement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/certifications
• A passion for energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives
• Ability to effectively complete Climate Showcase Communities project goals
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet
• Ability to quickly learn other software as needed, such as Access
• Must be able to manage several tasks at one time and effectively prioritize
• Ability to take an interdisciplinary approach to issues and opportunities
• Excellent communication skills (writing, presentation, interpersonal)
• Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders
• Independent, highly motivated, able to work under pressure and w/ limited supervision
• Ability to oversee 30-60 program trainees, trainers, contractors, and others
• Superb organization skills with the ability to collect and manage extensive data
• A driver’s license and willingness to travel locally and out-of-town
• Good physical condition and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities
• A Master’s Degree in a relevant field and/or 2+ years of equivalent experience
• Project management experience
• Experience with website design and content management
• Experience with community education and outreach
• Supervisory experience
The Energy Program Specialist will work out of the Chumash Employee Resource Center located at 585 McMurray Road, Buellton, CA 93427 and/or the Tribal Government Administration Building located at 100 Via Juana Lane, Santa Ynez, CA 93460.
