ICS 300 & 400 Command and General Staff Training

ASIA-BIA/BIE Emergency Managers and Alternates,

There are a few seats left in the upcoming Command and General Staff Training; H-337, which is equivalent to taking both the ICS-300 and -400 courses.

It seems a shame to leave these seats unfilled, given our shortage of trained people.

The course is open to both ASIA-BIA/BIE employees, and non-federal Tribal incident management team members who have training and experience at some level below the Command and General Staff level, and who are in line to move up, and/or are currently being counted on/planned to be on your Emergency Management Teams/Emergency Relocation Groups (EMT/ERG).

All EMT/ERG and Regional/Agency/School/Facility Managers, and their Incident Management Team (IMT) members, who are planned to perform in Command (Incident Commanders, Safety-Liaison-Public Affairs Officers) and General Staff (Plans-Operations-Logistics-Finance/Admin. Chief) positions need to have completed this H-337 course, or both ICS/IS-300 & -400.

This course will be given in Sacramento, CA, May 23-27, and is FREE to those persons referred by OHSES to the DOI-OEM/Wolff (see below). Benefiting office/Tribe is to cover travel costs.

Attached is a list of Independent Study (IS) Courses offered by FEMA, that are equivalent to ICS courses.
Please review and compare to your EMT/ERG Roster with this list of training needs to determine which other courses that the listed/planned members have, and which courses they need to take.
At a minimum, those attending the H-337 (ICS-300/-400) course should have -100/-200/-700 and would be better prepared if they had IS-800/-810/-811.

Please expedite your inquiries to your management and EMT/ERG members, and Tribes that currently have ICS Overhead Teams (Incident Management Teams [IMT].

Note: In order to get Funding from FEMA, Tribes are approaching the deadline for National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliance. Having trained personnel is a part of that compliance.
