Solid Waste Training April 12-15, 2011 in Las Vegas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Program has awarded a grant to the National Indian Justice Center
(NIJC) to develop and deliver a 3 day training session on Solid Waste Management, plus an optional 1 day train the trainer session.
The focus of the training session will be on current and critical issues like illegal dumping, the development and enforcement of
tribal codes, jurisdictional conflicts, reduction and recycling, hazardous household waste, hazardous waste resulting from meth labs,
illegal dump closures and clean-up project considerations, RCRA issues and other updates on solid waste management.
This course is designed for tribal elected officials, tribal environmental personnel, tribal court personnel, tribal law enforcement
with the capacity to enforce tribal environmental laws, state and federal EPA personnel that work with tribes to address solid
waste management issues and others interested in increasing the capacity of tribes to address solid waste management issues.
In addition to the onsite regional training described above, NIJC will also be developing an online course on Solid Waste
Management. If you are interested in learning more about the online course only, please e-mail barry@nijc.org and request to be added
to the Solid Waste Management Online Course Enrollment. This course is scheduled to begin in the Summer of 2011.

LOGISTICS: This training session will be conducted at the Riviera Hotel & Casino, 2901 Las Vegas Blvd South, Las Vegas, NV
89109; Tel: (800) 634-6753. All individuals are responsible for their own lodging. The Riviera is holding a block of rooms at a rate
of $69.00 (single/double), plus 12% tax and fees per room night, for participants. A one night room deposit will be required at the time
of booking. This special rate will be available until Tuesday, March 22, 2011. The Riviera will be offering airport transfer shuttles
to and from the Las Vegas Airport at a rate of $8-$10 each way. To reserve a room at the Riviera, please call the Hotel and state that
