Tribal Pesticides Program Council meeting in January

Dear TPPC,
For those of you who I have not met previously, my name is Brian Davidson and I am the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona’s newest addition. I have recently been hired on by the ITCA to assist and coordinate the Tribal Pesticide Program Council. As you know, we are planning a full TPPC meeting here in Arizona the early part of 2014. Because I have recently come on board, we are working quickly to make everything come together for this meeting. A few key items to be aware of:

1. Dates- We currently plan to host the full TPPC meeting on January 22-24, 2014. January 20 is MLK Day and January 21 will give you a day of travel. January 24 will be a half day for the Executive Committee to meet. Please have these dates marked off on your calendar.
2. Venues- I realize the sentiment is to host the meeting on Tribal Land and support tribes. We are trying to accommodate this as well as possibly look at the Heard Museum which is one of the largest Native American Museums located in Central Phoenix. Due to time constraints, there is a possibility that we might consider other alternative venues off tribal lands.
3. Elections-As a result of vacancies on the Executive Committee, we will be electing officers during our January meeting. I am working on a process which is fair and open. I will be asking for your input on this election process once I draft and proposed it.
4. Agenda- Fred Corey and several other members of the Executive Committee will be working on drafting an agenda soon. I will be working with him and the US EPA to make sure your important issues can be covered in the two full days of the meeting.

Last but not least, we hope to have good weather for you here in Arizona and some time for a mixer so we can get to know each other a bit more. I will make coordinating this meeting as open as possible in the short time we have, so please look for my e mails in the near future. Stay warm and healthy everyone.
