Post by NaepcA1 »

Hello Tribal Stream Team,

As you all know, NAEPC, the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians, and U.S. EPA will be hosting a Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) & Bioassessment training on December 5th-9th, 2011. The training is set to take place at Rincon’s EPA classroom. **Please note that there were some changes made to the original draft agenda. The lab portion on part of Day 4 and all of Day 5 will be conducted at the City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department, Environmental Monitoring and Technical Services in San Diego.

This free five-day workshop will train interested Tribal Clean Water Technicians, Environmental Managers, and other Natural Resource Managers how to collect and process bioassessment samples and assess the physical habitat and biological conditions of rivers and streams. It will also address aquatic impacts from environmental stressors and the importance of understanding the interconnectivity of a system and recognize the fundamental changes to the water cycle, water quality, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, and stream form and function.

If you are interested in attending this training, please fill out the attached registration form and return via email at cfoster@naepc.com or fax to 951-296-5109 no later than November 30th, 2011. I also attached a draft agenda for your reference.

Hotel Accommodations:
We have set up a group rate of $79.00 per night plus 8% room tax at Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort, which is only a few minutes away from Rincon’s EPA classroom.
