The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has begun the process of creating
San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan. It will combine an overall vision for the region’s
future, with specific plans for how to make that vision a reality. As sovereign nations
within the boundaries of the San Diego region, it is critical that the county’s tribes be
engaged in the shaping of San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan.
In November, the Southern California Tribal Chairmen’s Association (SCTCA) Board
approved a Tribal Consultation Plan for San Diego Forward. This workshop is part of
the process of engaging tribal nations in the development of the Plan. Participants
will examine several key policy areas, raise issues, and develop possible strategies for
discussion between the SCTCA and SANDAG Boards at the 2014 San Diego Regional
Tribal Summit, as well as possible inclusion in San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan.
The following topics will be discussed in an interactive, roundtable format:
• Energy
• Economy
• Cultural Resources
• Habitat Conservation
