FREE Tribal Waste Characterization Training: Focus on Casino Waste (Sacramento)
On Tuesday, April 23 the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and Cache Creek Casino Resort, in coordination with Waste Management, Inc. and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, are hosting a Waste Characterization Training focused on Casino Waste. Knowing what is in your trash is critical to determining how to sustainably manage your waste for the long-term through waste reduction programs, such as recycling and composting. This training is ideal for tribes that are in the process of developing or updating their Integrated Waste Management Plans.
This all-day training will be held at Waste Management’s Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station. The training includes both classroom and “field” elements where we will learn the methodology of waste characterization, how to conduct a waste characterization on your own, sorting through Cache Creek Casino Resort waste, and findings from the day’s analysis. We will also take a tour of Waste Management’s facility.
Space is limited and available on a "first come, first serve" basis. Please note that anyone who participates is required to provide and wear their own safety equipment: long pants, long-sleeved shirt, steel-toed boots, and work gloves. Additional safety equipment may be required. EPA will provide a complete list of needed safety equipment before the training.
If you would like to take advantage of this training opportunity, please email me by April 15.
Where: Waste Management’s Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station, 8491 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, Ca 95826
Date: Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Time: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
