Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families Certification Training
October 24-25, 2012, Northeastern State University, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

First Nations Development Institute is partnering with First Nations Oweesta Corporation, The Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians and the Oklahoma Native Assets Coalition to host: Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families, fourth edition, Certified Instructor Training. Participants who successfully complete the training will receive full certification to teach financial skills in their communities. This training is made possible by the generous funding of the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

The two-day training taught by our experienced professionals will give financial education trainers, high school teachers, tribal financial professionals, Native CDFI professionals, community development specialists, and investment advisors the tools they need to successfully implement financial education programs in their communities.

The two-day training will cover:
• An extensive overview of the Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families curriculum, including developing spending plans, navigating various banking products like checking and savings accounts, accessing and understanding a credit report, and establishing sound credit;
• Effective training techniques and resources;
• Financial education program design and implementation; and
• Experience facilitating financial education lessons.
