Dear PNW Tribal Climate Change Network
This morning I had a chance to talk with Gustavo Bisbal, director of the Northwest Climate Science Center (NW CSC). He shared information with me on the recent Request for Proposals (see attached), due March 12, aimed at supporting projects that address the following topical science needs:
1. Response of hydrologic systems to future climate
2. Vulnerability of species, populations, and ecosystems to climate change
3. Aquatic integrity related to climate change
4. Disturbance occurrence due to climate change
5. Climate change monitoring and observation systems
Eligible applicants for this program are the institutions participating in the NW CSC consortium, including, Boise State University, Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho State University, Montana State University, Oregon Health and Science University, Oregon State University, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Portland State University, University of Idaho, University of Montana, University of Oregon, University of Washington, Washington State University, and Western Regional Climate Center, as well as USGS centers, field stations and laboratories.
Gustavo emphasized that tribes (and other federal, state or other entities not listed above), are encouraged to establish working partnerships with one of the recognized eligible applicants to seek participation as part of a project headed by a NW CSC/university consortium or USGS principal investigator.
If you have contacts with any of the institutions within the NW CSC, you might consider contacting that to see if there is an opportunity for tribal participation in proposed projects. Feel free to call me if you would like to discuss any of this.
Best regards,
Kathy

Dear Northwest Climate Science Center Partner:
I am pleased to share with you the attached guidance for the Northwest Climate Science Center (NW CSC) FY12 Request for Proposals (RFP). Having successfully completed our first full year of operation, I am excited for the opportunities in the year ahead. In conjunction with a number of other burgeoning efforts, an array of new climate science expertise and products is underway. Collectively, we are eager to support those individuals and groups responsible for managing the Northwest’s fish, wildlife, habitats, and cultural resources.
The attached document contains a pre-proposal template together with detailed instructions on the necessary components of RFP submissions. An overall timeline is also included. Eligible applicants for this program are the institutions participating in the NW CSC's affiliated academic consortium (see footnote 1 on page 1 of the attachment) and USGS centers, field stations, and laboratories. Any other entities not recognized as an eligible party to apply directly for funds in this process, may do so in partnership with one of the recognized eligible applicants.
If you have any questions regarding the NW CSC, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Gus Bisbal
