Invitation: Region 9 Webinar for Tribes on NPDES Pesticides General Permit (PGP) Requirements and How to Submit an Application
Date: Thursday, November 10, 2011
Time: 10 - 11:30 AM San Francisco time (PST).
Note: Registration is not required, however due to the technical limitations of the web-conferencing system, Region 9 can only accommodate 50 participants for this webinar. If you find yourself unable to join the online discussion at the scheduled time due to high enrollment, please notify Marcy Katzin via e-mail at Katzin.Marcy@epa.gov. If there is sufficient demand, we plan to hold a repeat session of the webinar later in 2011.
Background: In response to a 2009 decision by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals (National Cotton Council, et al, vs. EPA), EPA is developing an NPDES Pesticides General Permit (PGP) for point source discharges from pesticide applications to Waters of the U.S. As of October 31, 2011, NPDES permit coverage will be required for certain pesticide applications. The PGP will provide coverage in areas where EPA is the NPDES permitting authority, which includes most Tribal lands. The Region 9 Water Division and Pesticides Office are collaborating to provide a webinar for tribes to help explain permit requirements and what steps tribes need to take to comply.
