This course will be divided into two parts:

i. During the first part, Marcia Anderson, Environmental Scientist at USEPA Region 2, will provide a technical overview of the resurgence of bedbugs from an inspector’s viewpoint, such as bed bug inspections, prevention actions, and personal protection protocols. She will then discuss bed bug integrated pest management, the development of pesticide resistance, and pesticides: what works, what does not, and why, 25B’s, and EPA approved pesticides for use on bed bugs.

ii. During the second half of this program, Bruce Aber, Assistant Regional Counsel at USEPA Region 2, will provide an overview of legal actions as a result of bed bugs, a review of recent federal, state and local legislation to combat bed bugs, followed by a look at the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide & Rodenticide (FIFRA) statute as it relates to bed bugs and criminal actions taken by the United States, on behalf of EPA, against pest control operators for violations of FIFRA.
