SDIRWM: Define Watershed Priorities
Posted: Tue Apr 30, 2013 4:54 pm
All –
Please remember that the San Diego IRWM Program is asking Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) members and other interested stakeholders to become champions for the recommended actions developed through our planning studies. Only those action items that have a committed lead will be included in the IRWM Plan Update.
Firm commitments should be made to Mark Stadler (MStadler@sdcwa.org) by May 10th for discussion at the June 5th RAC Meeting/Public Workshop. Please identify which of the Implementation Actions on the attached table will be completed by your entity!
Thank you,
Rosalyn

SDIRWM Stakeholders –
As discussed at our April 3rd Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting, our four Planning Studies have resulted in a long table of recommended Implementation Actions (see attached). Although the table includes lots of “Nice To Haves” we do not yet have a lead organization committed to any of them. We are requesting the assistance of the RAC and other interested stakeholders to help prioritize and accomplish them by reviewing the recommended actions and let us know if you’re willing to champion any of them – if so, we’ll include those actions with dedicated champions in the list of short-term priorities to be implemented during the life of the 2013 Plan Update (2013-2017).
We are asking the RAC and interested stakeholders to identify which actions you would be willing to either 1) take responsibility as lead organization for accomplishing the task or 2) provide support and involvement. We are also asking that once you have identified a specific action you would like to champion, that you also obtain and confirm your entity’s commitment to work towards accomplishing the selected tasks. For each action, you will be expected to meet the following commitments:
1. Actions should be completed in approximately 3 years and a final presentation will be made to the RAC
2. Actions will require development of a work plan and quarterly reporting, using forms that will be made available on the SDIRWM website
3. A report will be made to the RAC on the status of each action in approximately 12-16 months
It is not anticipated that reporting activities will require significant time commitment to complete.
Firm commitments should be made to Mark Stadler (MStadler@sdcwa.org) by May 10th for discussion at the June 5th RAC Meeting/Public Workshop. Please identify which of the Implementation Actions on the attached table will be completed by your entity!
Things to consider when reviewing the list:
• Any recommendation to be included in the IRWM Plan Update’s Implementation Chapter will need a champion
• Some of these actions may be suited for potential future projects – Please indicate if your organization would be willing to commit to completing an action directly or if you can only commit to submitting a project application for future IRWM funding opportunities
• Consider opportunities for sustainable funding – For example, can some of these actions be completed in tandem with existing funded activities
• Please bring your suggestions for additional priorities to be discussed at the June 5th RAC Meeting/Public Workshop
Thank you,
Rosalyn
