JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Tribal Youth Service Worker
SUPERVISED BY: Tribal Administrator
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Tribal Administrator, Tribal Youth Service Workers are responsible for planning and development of programs to prevent out-of-wedlock services and to encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families for Tribal Youth who are recognized members of the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel. The Tribal Youth Service workers must be able to implement and coordinate outreach activities.
DUTIES:
• Work with the Iipay Nation Executive Branch and Tribal Administrator in planning programs to meet social needs of our Tribal Youth.
• Work through the use of community resources, with individuals and groups in danger of becoming juvenile delinquents.
• Work with Law Enforcement Agencies, Schools, Employers and Recreation Agencies.
• Determine methods and make recommendations to the Tribal Administrator on which programs concerning alcohol and drug abuse are most appropriate for Tribal Youth.
• Coordinate with area service providers and professionals in prevention programs.
• Arrange for speakers from Indian Health Services and other agencies to provide group presentations for prevention of out of wedlock services and formation of two parent families
• Develop training sessions and materials of out of wedlock services and formation of two parent families
• Research and identify additional programs for Tribal Youth and present to the Tribal Administrator.
• Conduct activities for Tribal Youth, such as Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball tournaments.
• Organize, promote and develop youth interest in arts, crafts, sports, music, dramatics and social recreation.
• Work with other Tribal Programs and other Local American Indian Youth Organizations, such as Intertribal Sports to conduct recreational events.
EDUCATION AND GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must enjoy working with children of all ages.
• Must be pleasant, good natured and a cheerful disposition.
• Must be dependable and work with minimum of supervision.
• Must have a valid California Drivers License, Proof of Insurance and provide DMV printout.
• Indian Preference
• Three to four years experience working with youth
• CPR and First Aid Card preferred or willing to obtain them
• Willing to engage in continued education in child development
WAGE RATE: $10.00/Hour 15-20 Hours per week
