Join us on November 20, 2023 to hear from Pueblo de San Ildefonso Environmental Director, Raymond Martinez, about how he has engaged his community and moved forward on climate action.

Raymond Martinez is a Tribal member and Tribal Council Representative of the Pueblo de San Ildefonso (New Mexico). He has studied both Environmental Science and Resource Management. He has called the Department of Environmental and Cultural Preservation home for 20 years in various capacities, from Tribal Risk Assessment Technician to Director. As the current Director of the Environment Department one of his top priorities is continued monitoring of the Chromium plume and providing accurate and frequent communications to Pueblo residents and Tribal Council. The Department's newest task is Climate Adaptation and Resilience Planning, studying and putting together a plan for the Pueblo to utilize and take into account the Pueblo’s Traditional and Cultural resources and activities.

Join us on November 29 for Part 2 of Climate Matters series to hear from the EFCWest Director Sarah Diefendorf, who will introduce Tribal Climate Toolkit to Engage Communities. The Toolkit was developed with consultation with the New Mexico Tribal Resiliency Action Network and through EFCWest hands-on experience working with several Tribes on their Climate Adaptation Plans. The Toolkit is chock full of community engagement tools and is free for all attendees!

Sarah is the Director of EFCWest. For approximately 15 years Sarah has worked with Native American Tribes throughout the American Southwest to help build their green economies by supporting strategic, solid waste and recycling, climate vulnerability and adaptation, and water protection planning.
