Tribal Webinars: Toxics Release Inventory Tribal Rule

Post by NaepcA1 »

EPA has already sent letters and emails to all tribes that we believe to have facilities on their lands to inform them of these opportunities and request tribal points of contact to receive TRI reports beginning in 2013, but we thought this would be a good opportunity for all tribes to learn more about TRI, what the Program means to them, and increase awareness of the recently finalized TRI Tribal Rule. (See attachment above.)

Please share with RTOCs, tribes and tribal organizations in your Regions.

Thank you,
Beth

Upcoming Opportunities to Learn More about the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Tribal Rule Implementation

TRI is planning to hold two webinars – one on July 25 and another on September 6 for tribes. The purpose of these webinars is to provide an introduction to the TRI Program, discuss the requirements under this new rule, review the various opportunities for tribal participation and input, and address any questions or concerns from tribal participants. Both webinars will cover the same material. The webinars will also provide an introduction to the TRI Data Exchange, which provides tribes the option to receive TRI data electronically.

Additional Opportunities for Engagement in the TRI Program

Beginning Tuesday September 11, 2012 at 11:30 AM Eastern Time, EPA would like to invite tribes to regularly participate in an ongoing bi-monthly conference call with EPA Regions and states to discuss matters related to the TRI Program. This call is generally held the second Tuesday of every month from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Eastern Time. The call in number will be: 1-866-299-3188: Code 2025660753. Please contact Cassandra
Vail (vail.cassandra@epa.gov, 202-566-0753) if you have any questions.

Tribes are also welcome to participate in the monthly TRI Data Exchange Conference Call, which is generally held the third Wednesday of every month from 2 – 3 PM Eastern Time. The call provides an opportunity for prospective TRI Data Exchange partners (i.e., Tribal authorities) to learn about this data sharing method via the Internet, and better understand the benefits of receiving reports electronically. The call in number will be: 1-866-299-3188, Code 2025660953. Please email Zach Scott (scott.zachary@epa.gov) of my staff if you plan to
participate in the monthly TRI Data Exchange Conference Call.
