National Indian Forestry and Fire Meeting
In San Diego!

The Bureau of Indian Affairs Division of Forestry and Wildland Fire
Management will be hosting the National Indian Forestry and
Wildland Fire Management Meeting at the Catamaran Resort in
San Diego March 6-8, 2012. The three day event will be packed
with information related to Forestry and Wildland Fire
Management in Indian Country and featured speakers will include
BIA Chief Forester, Bill Downes, BIA Fire Director, Lyle Carlile,
BIA Deputy-Director, Trust Services Bryan Rice, and Pacific
Regional Director Amy Dutschke. Assistant Secretary Echo Hawk
and Bureau Director Mike Black are invited speakers. The theme
for this years meeting will be “The Changing Climate: People,
Land and Resources. Breakout panel discussions will be held with
a variety of topics related to Fire Operations, Fuels Management ,
Wildland Fire Prevention, Fire Planning, Forest and Integrated
Resource Management Planning, GIS, NEPA, Safety, and more!!!

years, and has not previously been held in California. Time to
take advantage of the opportunity to attend this meeting while it’s
close to home!!
