1) EPA Announces Non-Dietary Exposure Task Force
In a recently updated Pesticide Registration (PR) Notice, EPA advises
pesticide registrants again of the Non-dietary Exposure Task Force, an
industry-wide task force to jointly develop exposure data for use
primarily in assessing residential exposure from pyrethrins and
pyrethroid insecticides, generally referred to as pyrethroids, used in
and around the home. The formation of the task force was first
announced in 2000. Since that time, data needs have become better
understood, and the task force has generated and continues to generate
data that EPA and other pesticide regulatory agencies anticipate will
help characterize and estimate more accurately residential exposure to
pyrethroid insecticides. The PR Notice (PR 2011-2) describes the data
that have been and are being developed, explains the need for these
data, and indicates how registrants may join the task force. Announced
in a Federal Register notice published by the Agency on November 23,
2011, PR Notice 2011-2 is located on EPA’s web page at
http://www.epa.gov/PR_Notices/ .

2) EPA Opens Public Docket on Insect Resistance Management for
Plant-Incorporated Protectants (PIPs)
EPA has opened a pesticide docket for existing materials and reviews
relevant to insect resistance management for plant-incorporated
protectants (PIPs). EPA produces numerous insect resistance management
assessments in response to information submitted by registrants in
accordance with the ongoing terms and conditions of their registered PIP
products. The agency recognizes considerable public interest in these
assessments and reviews, and is establishing this docket to provide easy
access for the public.
