These upcoming webinars did not make it into the February Tribal Climate Change Newsletter:

1) US EPA webinars

US EPA Tribal Science Priorities Webinars
March 9, 11 am-2:30 pm EST and March 10, 2-3:30 pm EST. The purpose of these webinars is to introduce the Tribes to the new process for identifying Tribal Science Priorities in Indian country and assist with the completion and submission of the Tribal Science Priorities template. Each Webinar will be 90 minutes long. The first 30 minutes will be spent discussing the process, the timeline, ranking and selection of priorities, and how to complete and submit the electronic template. The remaining 60 minutes will be reserved for questions and answers from our Tribal partners and stakeholders. Please see attachments for more information.

Local Government Tools for Sustainable Design and Green Building Implementation: Removing Barriers and Providing Incentives for Change
March 9, 2:00-3:30 PM (EST): Sponsored by EPA, this webinar will discuss how to promote and incorporate sustainable design and development components in local codes of ordinances, standards, and policies. Developing Low-Interest Retrofit Programs for the Multifamily Sector
March 23, 3:00 PM (EST): Sponsored by DOE’s Technical Assistance Program, this webinar discuss creating low-interest loan programs for the multifamily affordable housing sector. In addition to explaining several models for multifamily weatherization programs, there will be information about a ratepayer funding on-bill repayment program, a complementary 2009 Recovery Act-funded pilot program for low-income properties, and a low-interest pilot program that serves borrowers investing in affordable housing. Presenters will also offer information about selecting auditing firms and contractors, marketing a multifamily program to property owners, and verifying that tenants receive the energy savings and benefits that result from this sort of retrofit.

Roadmap for Adapting to Coastal Risk

ENERGY STAR and Green Building Rating Systems
March 23, 2:00-3:30 PM (EST). ENERGY STAR will host this webcast covering how to use EPA tools and resources to help meet requirements for green building rating systems such as the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the Green Globes system, and others.
