Southern California drought preparedness activities for the federal NIDIS program (see www.drought.gov). A goal of NIDIS is to provide early warning information (such as climate and hydrologic forecasts) that will help water users to reduce the impacts and costs of droughts.
We will be having a meeting on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Martin Johnson House, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We expect to have broad representation at this meeting from water agencies, scientists, water users, and other stakeholders in the Southern California region.
Understandably, it is important that the tribes are part of these discussions, and I would very much appreciate your conveying this invitation to the tribes in the region.
Please have people contact me directly if they are interested in attending, or even if they can't attend this meeting but would like to stay involved with the Southern California NIDIS activities. I will then put them on our participant list, and send them relevant information.
With thanks and kind regards,
Anne Steinemann
