SALARY: Based on Experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Environmental Director will report directly to the tribal Administrator. The Environmental Director will be a paid employee.


Duties: The Environmental Director (ED) must have the skills and ability over a broad range of competencies including general office skills, record keeping, public speaking, teaching. The ED will be responsible for ensuring that grants assigned to the EPA Department are managed properly, including periodic reporting, completion of deliverables and working with the fiscal department to ensure that monies are spent properly. The ED will be the first line supervisor for program personnel and will be responsible for making assignments and employee performance management. The ED must be willing and able to travel to meetings, conferences and training sessions.


Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, other Sciences, Engineering or Math are preferred. Other Degrees or comparable experience/training may be substituted for education. A valid driver’s license is required. The applicant must have the language skills to write technical reports in a clear, professional manner. The applicant must have the physical ability to lift 50 lbs, hike in mountainous terrain at over 1 mile elevation.


The Band may, at its’ discretion, hire a candidate lacking one or more of the above qualifications under a strict program of professional development and advancement.
