South Yuba River Citizen's Leauge (SYRCL)
Reports to: SYRCL Executive Director Directly Supervises: Wild & Scenic Festival Producer, RiverPeople Coordinator, Program & Administrative Assistant
The South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) is a long-established river advocacy and watershed restoration organization with a 28 year history of creative community organizing to meet our mission: to protect and restore the Yuba River and the Greater Yuba River Watershed. With over 2,000 active members and an equal number of annual volunteers, SYRCL implements our RiverScience Program, RiverPeople Program, Yuba Salmon Now! Campaign, and Wild & Scenic Film Festival Programs with substantial community support and involvement.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival began as a modest fundraising event for SYRCL and has grown in 10 years to become a dynamic program with significant local and national impact. Our Opening Festival in Nevada City has become the largest film festival of its kind on the circuit and a favorite of activists and filmmakers for this genre, and the Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour now reaches over 100 communities supporting a network of grassroots environmental organizations across North America. The Wild & Scenic program provides a global environmental context to SYRCL’s advocacy for the Yuba River, and serves as an effective outreach and development vehicle for the organization.

The Director of Development and Wild & Scenic Events gives cohesion to SYRCL’s work with partnering Wild & Scenic affiliate organizations, business and individual sponsors, and other outreach and fundraising events produced by SYRCL.
