Description: The Cultural Resource Monitor is responsible for on site field monitoring. Along with having knowledge of the history and prehistory of the area, they need to be familiar with the Native American village site, gathering areas, burial practices, culture, religion and ceremonies of the Luiseño people. They need to be well informed of the laws that protect the area and any discovered items. The monitor is required to work with developers, contractors, and archaeologists to see that these sites are properly protected. The Monitors entire day is spent outdoors, so the physical demands are heavy. They must be able to sit, stand and walk long distances on uneven ground. They must be able to reach, talk and hear over harsh conditions. The Monitor will be working side-by-side with earthmoving equipment, so physical fitness is a must. The Monitors must be able to handle high temperatures and extreme weather as these projects will be going well into the summer months. The Cultural Resource Monitors will be hired as “Pool” employees. As jobs are available, they will be called in for work.
Qualifications: Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have ability to read, write and speak English.

1 year experience in similar role.
