Environmental Assistant

Location: San Jacinto, CA
Employment Type: Full Time
Department: Environmental Protection Services
Description: Under the supervision, of the Environmental Manager the Environmental Assistant will support the EPA department with various functions related to water, air, land, solid waste, hazardous waste and other environmental needs of the Reservation.
Duties: Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following:

Answering phone calls or written communication regarding environmental issues.

Research for environmental projects.

Assisting environmental staff in completion of projects.

Assist with educational programs and resources for schools, and community groups.

Organizing events and activities to raise awareness of environmental issues.

Providing office coverage when environmental staff is out;

Written communication regarding environmental issues.

Provide Clerical Support (typing, filing, copying, etc.)

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Ability to:
Prepare clear and concise correspondence and other written materials; communicate ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships with, staff and other governmental personnel encountered in the course of the work.

Training and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of 12 semester units or the quarter unit equivalent in science related field.

2 years clerical experience operating standard office equipment and a solid knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; Experience in Native American Programs.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements

A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Tribes Vehicle Insurance Policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
