San Diego IRWM Stakeholders,

U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is currently accepting applications for its Desalination and Water Purification Research (DWPR) Program for FY 2018. Funding is available for laboratory scale projects and for pilot scale projects, and the DWPR research sponsors partner with Reclamation to address a broad range of desalting and water purification needs. The DWPR Program seeks to increase water supplies by reducing the cost, energy consumption, and environmental impacts of treating impaired and otherwise unusable waters.

DWPR Funding Opportunity
• Funding available: $1.2 million (no more than $1 million available to institutions of higher learning)
• Funding Group 1: Laboratory Scale Projects
o Up to $150,000 per proposal
o Bench-scale projects with small flow rates (less than 2 gals/min)
• Funding Group 2: Pilot Scale Projects
o Up to $400,000 per proposal ($200,000 for first year, up to $200,000 for optional second year, see FOA for details)
o Test a novel process at sufficiently large scale to determine technical, practical, and economic viability of process
o Generally preceded by laboratory studies demonstrating technology works
• Funding Match: varies
o Institutions of higher education, US-Mexico binational research foundations, inter-university research programs : No funding match required
o All other applicants: 75% funding match
• Deadline: May 2, 2018
