Workshop Overview

Over a succession of varied workshops, this series will address multiple environmental health hazards and their impact on health and wellbeing. These workshops are specific to the needs of tribal populations, targeting areas of improvement and highlighting mitigation strategies for each topic area.

Purpose

The workshop aims to inform attendees about environmental health hazards specific to tribal regions as well as provide resources to address key issues. The primary goals in this workshop are to identify and understand: asbestos in general; the sources of contamination in water and air; the associated health hazards. In addition to federal standards and permissible limits of water and air related contamination, Cal-OSHA and other applicable agency standards will be explored.

Specific Topics Include

The workshop will focus on the following topics areas: Quality of Drinking Water; Water Supply and Sanitation; Indoor Air Quality; Asbestos Awareness.

Who Should Attend

Those who are encouraged to attend include, but are not limited to:
• Environmental health specialists
• Environmental epidemiologists
• Tribal and government representatives
• Indian Health Services
• Environmental health advocates
