Community residents, refinery employees, consultants, and other interested parties are invited to attend a public meeting of the Interagency Refinery Task Force (Task Force). Participants will receive current information on statewide refinery health and safety efforts. They will also have an opportunity to provide public comment about any refinery health and safety concerns.

Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. created the Task Force in 2013 to facilitate statewide coordination among member agencies that help protect the public, nearby communities and refinery workers from risks associated with refinery operations throughout the state. CalEPA coordinates the Task Force among local, state and federal agencies. Beginning in 2018, two of the Task Force’s meetings each year will be public meetings, pursuant to Assembly Bill 1649 (Muratsuchi, 2017). The Task Force includes the California Environmental Protection Agency, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, California Air Resources Board, Department of Toxic Substances Control, State Water Resources Control Board, Department of Industrial Relations and its Division of Occupational Safety and Health, California Department of Public Health, Office of the State Fire Marshal, Local Certified Unified Program Agencies, Local Air Districts, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9.
