11-28-16 Oak Tree Preservation Forum

Post by NaepcA1 »

“This forum is one of a series of events Rincon is putting on for Native American Heritage month. Information will be presented on the Gold Spotted Oak Bore and
the Shot Hole Bore, focusing on damage the borer’s are having on oak forests in San Diego County and talk about preventative measures. The basis for the forum was one of the common links in our cultures for S. Cal tribes, oak tree’s and acorn’s. The forum is open to tribes thru out Southern California.

Tribal members are encouraged to attend. Other tribes are more than welcomed to attend the forum. We put together a panel consisting of tribal environmental directors/managers, professionals from the UC Cooperative Extension, BIA Forestry, U.S. Forest Service just
to name a few. In 2013, the bug crossed over into Riverside County.”
