8/5/16 Deadline Tribal Scholarship CA Adaptation Forum

Post by NaepcA1 »

Aug 5th deadline to apply for scholarships for tribes and community members to attend CA Adaptation Forum

FYI – the Local Government Commission, host of the biennial California Adaptation Forum, just sent out this notice that travel scholarships are still available for the Forum, being held September 7 & 8 in Long Beach, CA.

The CA Adaptation Forum is a vibrant and informative gathering of climate adaptation practitioners from public and private sectors across California. It is an excellent setting to exchange critical information on the topic and make invaluable connections with others working on the topic.

Scholarships are for “local government staff and elected officials, nonprofit organizations, community based organizations, tribal representatives and other community leaders that are directly working to advance equity and climate justice in frontline and/or disadvantaged communities”

“one representative per organization”

If folks are interested they should go to the web site directly and register.
For more information they should contact the LGC staffer listed on the web site (not EPA).

Could you please let your interested partners at Tribal governments and local know, as appropriate?

2016 California Adaptation Forum Scholarship Application
Scholarship applications are due by Friday, August 5th.
Thank you for your interest in attending the 2nd Biennial California Adaptation Forum in Long Beach. This fund was established to assist us in accomplishing our goal of using the Forum to advance the broader equity and climate justice movement throughout California.

Due to the generosity of several organizations we have the necessary support to provide scholarship recipients up to $1,000 to cover expenses related to attending the forum, including registration, lodging, and travel. Since we have limited funding available, scholarships are limited to one recipient per organization. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with need and background taken into consideration.

Scholarships are open to local government staff and elected officials, nonprofit organizations, community based organizations, tribal representatives and other community leaders that are directly working to advance equity and climate justice in frontline and/or disadvantaged communities. Priority will be given to confirmed forum or workshop speakers, individuals that served on any of the Forum’s Advisory Committees that fall under any of the above listed categories, and community based organizations and community leaders that directly work in and represent disadvantaged communities.

Scholarships are due by Friday, August 5th. Please allow approximately two weeks to hear back on the status of your application once it has been submitted. If you have any questions regarding the scholarship process, please contact Alicia Brown (abrown@lgc.org / phone: 916-448-1198 x327).
